About Revi

BIO:

Revi Goldwasser is an Empowering and Motivational Speaker, Entrepreneur and a Self-Employed Recruiter.  Her expertise stems from her decade long experience of running Wall Street Personnel, her home based financial services recruiting firm, which she launched back in 2000 from her 2nd bedroom, only one year after her first son was born.

Her success of running her own business from  home, commanding a six figure income year after year, and raising two small boys (she had her second son in 2002) is a true testament that you can live the American Dream, work from  home, be self employed, raise a family and make six figures!

And now she will empower you to do the same!

Childhood:

Revi Goldwasser spent most of her childhood growing up in Hong Kong. At the age of 14, she and her family immigrated to the United States. Arriving straight into 9th grade from a foreign country was a difficult transition for any teenager, but Revi took it in stride and quickly acclimated and enjoyed her years in high school. She attended San Diego State University and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance.

Graduating in the midst of the 1991 recession was the least of Revi’s problems. Although adapting quickly to the American life, and loving every part of it, she found herself with exactly one year left on her Foreign Student Visa! She not only had to secure her first job out of college in the midst of a recession, but also had to secure a company willing to sponsor her for a green card. If she did not accomplish this, Revi would be forced to leave the country!

Getting Her Green Card

With complete determination, Revi knew, one way or another, she would get sponsored. That was the only outcome she would accept as reality. Undeterred by the high unemployment rate and deep recession of 1991, Revi started competing for the same jobs as so many other college grads wanted. Revi sent countless of resumes and was interviewed by 100’s of firms, always to be turned down due to either skill set or not having a green card. With only a few months left on her Visa, Revi decided to go to an immigration attorney to see what other options she had, as time was running out.

A true miracle then happened to Revi (although in retrospect she knows it was applying the principles of the “Law of Attraction” that made this happen). After spending one hour with the immigration attorney, discussing her options, something astonishing took place. The immigration attorney offered her a job on the spot to join his practice. And the best part was the he offered to sponsor Revi for a green card for free! Little did he know that Revi would’ve worked for free, he also offered a fair salary on top of this miraculous gift.  Although Revi never thought she would work in immigration, the 4 years spent in this office would become the cornerstone of Revi’s mission to help anyone going through a difficult transition.

Self Discovery

After obtaining her green card, Revi knew it was time to move on. She pursued her college dream of working in the wall street and financial industry. She worked for several different investment firms holding various positions in operations, administration and compliance. Turning 30 was a pivotal time for Revi. She had just given birth to her first son, and once again, Revi knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that it was time to continue her career growth and move to the next chapter in her life. The question was – in what?

Revi embarked upon a 6 month journey of self discovery and research to figure out who she was and what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. After much research and meetings with mentors, she ultimately decided that becoming a recruiter would embrace her passion of helping people “do what they are”, while at the same time it would maintain her presence and interaction with top companies.

Since Revi had never been a recruiter, she realized she had a tough road ahead. Undeterred, she polished her resume, put her best foot forward and started applying to numerous recruiter openings.  At last, she made it to the final rounds to be a recruiter for a top Beverly Hills recruiting firm. Yet, when she met the owner, he looked at Revi and said blatantly, “Revi, you have never been a recruiter, and because of that, you will fail. I am not hiring you. Good Luck.”  And he left the room.

Revi was devastated.  He was right – what did she know about being a Recruiter?  After all, he was the owner of a multi-million dollar recruiting firm in Beverly Hills. He, of all people, would know if Revi would succeed, and he said she wouldn’t. For two weeks, Revi was depressed. The 6 month journey of self discovery was pointless, and now she would have to go back to the drawing board. She was hopeless and dejected. Her passion was to be a Recruiter, but no one believed in her and no one was willing to hire her.

Revi’s “AHA” Moment:

Two weeks after that terrible interview, a true miracle happened once again. In the middle of the night, around 2am, Revi woke up with a start and sat up in bed. A name had come to Revi in her dreams. A name for a new company. She quickly ran to the computer, went to “Go Daddy.com” where she would search to see if the domain name that had appeared in her dreams was taken. Those few seconds of the hourglass from GoDaddy searching their database felt like hours. Finally the results were in….the name was available!  She took out her credit card and with the biggest grin on her face, purchased the domain name, Wall Street Personnel, for the next 100 years.

And just like that, at 2:08 am, September 18th, 2000, while her husband and one year old son were still sleeping, Revi went into business for herself.

That day, 10 years ago, was Revi’s “aha” moment when she decided that if Corporate America would not hire Revi, then Revi would hire Revi. And she’s never looked back – ever!

Today, Revi has grossed over $ 2.5 million dollars running her recruiting business from her home. Turns out the owner of that fancy Beverly Hills Recruiting firm wasn’t so smart after all!
